Queensland Manufacturing Institute (QMI), hosts of the Gateway to Industry Schools Program (GISP) for Advanced Manufacturing (GISP-AM) is proud to partner with ARM HUB, UAP, XR HUB and AI HUB to bring you this Inside Advanced Manufacturing teacher tour.
Advanced manufacturing, also known as Industry 4.0, is revolutionising manufacturing. It involves a greater integration of new technologies, robotics, nanoelectronics, design in manufacturing, data analytics and innovative production systems, with a highly-skilled workforce, to produce high value, customised products.
We first visit the Advanced Robotics for manufacturing hub, a learning technology centre in robotics and design led manufacturing. The ARMHUB draws together the best scientists, technical specialists, designers and engineers working side by side to develop commercial robotic solutions and transforming high potential ideas into new products and services and accelerating adoption to generate economic growth. We also visit the mixed reality technology being used by advanced manufacturer UAP to collaborate with multiple professions, engineering solutions before going to manufacture.
We then take a short trip into Fortitude Valley to check out the new XR Hub being run by Real Serious Games. Immersive technology refers to technology, including Augmented (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR), that emulates a physical world. See how these types of mediums are advancing manufacturing.
We then step inside Queensland AI Hub to better understand how all sectors, including manufacturing, can unlock new potential by augmenting and extending human capability through artificial intelligence (AI). Notably AI (embodied in robots) can help shoulder dull, dirty and dangerous tasks.
