Structured Workplace Learning Provides New Opportunities

Tony Puglisi (Dyno Nobel supervisor) and Aiden from Moranbah High School

QMI’s Structured Workplace Learning program is proud to have linked Aiden, a Moranbah High School Student, with advanced manufacturer Dyno Nobel Moranbah for four-weeks of intensive work experience. Aiden was able to explore his passion for engineering with hands-on experience in electrical systems, fabrication and engineering, setting him on a clear path towards a promising career.

Working alongside industry professionals, Aiden gained insights that went beyond the classroom. From programming safety systems to resolving on-site issues, the placement immersed him in real-world challenges.

Guided by Supervisor Tony Puglisi (pictured), Aiden embraced the opportunity to learn, and his enthusiasm didn’t go unnoticed. Aiden’s SWLP placement opened the door to a new opportunity - he has been accepted into a cadetship with Ergon Energy where he will complete a Certificate II in Electrical Technician at TAFE while gaining on-the-job experience during school holidays.

Dyno Nobel was equally impressed. Inspired by Aiden’s performance, the company has decided to extend more work placement opportunities to Moranbah High School students.
