Women Who Weld
Did you know that only 1% of First Class Welders in Australia are women?
And did you know that welding is a highly sought after and well paid skill?
QMI’s Women Who Weld (WWW) Program aims to increase the gender diversity within manufacturing by providing welding workshops in schools throughout Queensland.
WWW gives female high school students in years 10, 11 and 12 the opportunity to have a go at welding in a safe and inclusive environment.
This program, in partnership with Cummins Inc, has inspired many women to pursue a career in manufacturing they would otherwise never have considered.
Patience Terry is now a first year apprentice at Cummins working on heavy automotive manufacturing. She loves her new career and credits Women Who Weld as her inspiration and pathway.
